Based on the theme, "Fashionable and Easy-to-use Tea Utensils", the contest was introducedfor the first time as one of the programs in the World O-CHA (Tea) Festival. A total of 133 items (111from Japan, 22 from abroad) were submitted.

The Tea Museum Ochanosato (Kanayafujimi-cho, Shimada City)
5 jury members judged entries, and out of 133, they selected the winners of the Grand Gold
Prize, the Gold Prize, the Design Prize, NPO Nihon-Cha Instructor Association Director’s Prize, the Promotion and Progress Prize, and the Encouragement Prize.
